• AFTV5 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community television, delivering alternatives to commercial broadcast media and governed by an independent Board of Directors made up of community leaders. 
• AFTV5 was created in 2012 to support, enhance and promote  the work of the underserved residents, non- profit organization and small businesses in the community.
• We are a cross-section of media organization united by a common belief: the importance of serving as champions for our community, to celebrate and support the many successes of Austin’s resident.

Our vision is to sweep people up in our story, inspiring them to become followers, consumers and promoters of our brand. AFTV5 IS committed to the value of community television, delivering alternatives to commercial broadcast television. Through our programming, we aim to provoke thought, foster change, provide an avenue for amplifying underrepresented voices and ultimately inspire positive change within our communities. AFTV5 documents and reports the African and African American community experience within and beyond Austin. By serving as a creator, producer and broadcaster of original work, we share with our global neighbors our culture and customs.
